Following a completely virtual event in 2020, the 52nd Nashville Film Festival is back on the big screen this year. The annual festival set for Sept. 30-Oct. 6 unites filmmakers, screenwriters, actors + movie buffs for 150+ film screenings, panel discussions, and live music.
🎥 What’s new this year
For the first time in years, the Nashville Film Festival will no longer be hosted at Regal Hollywood 27 and will instead spread out to 4 venues. Additionally, this year’s hybrid program features a virtual platform for at-home viewing.
🎥 Where + when to watch
- Rocketown | 601 4th Ave. S. | Attend opening night events on Thurs., Sept. 30, followed by festival screenings, Q&As, and select live events through Sun., Oct. 3.
- Belmont University | 1900 Belmont Blvd. | The university’s performing arts center will host film screenings and panel discussions on Mon., Oct. 4.
- Marathon Music Works | 1402 Clinton St. | Check out film screenings, Q&As, and live music performances on Tues., Oct. 5.
- The Belcourt Theatre | 2102 Belcourt Ave. | The Belcourt will host the festival’s closing night presentation on Wed., Oct. 6.

🎥 The schedule + tickets
If you've been eagerly awaiting the lineup, expect the full slate of films and programs to be announced in August.
In the meantime, festival organizers just announced the first 4 titles to screen in-person and virtually: the Duplass Brothers-produced “7 Days,” Alba Sotorra’s documentary “The Return: Life After Isis,” music doc “Fanny: The Right to Rock,” and thriller “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair.”
In-person and virtual festival passes are now on sale + individual tickets will be available for purchase in September. Stay tuned for more festival news in the coming weeks.

Announced
- Salt-N-Pepa, Kim Petras, Orville Peck + other artists will perform at the 2021 Nashville Pride Festival, set for Sept. 18-19 at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. The annual festival also features a parade, vendor market + kids zone. Tickets go on sale Friday.
- The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its 5 newest inductees, including Rhett Akins, Amy Grant, Buddy Cannon, John Scott Sherrill, and Toby Keith. The new members will be formally inducted at a ceremony in November. (WKRN)

- The Nashville Sounds have announced the team's extended schedule for the 2021 season. In addition to 5 more away games, the team will play a 5-game series against the Columbus Clippers on Sept. 22-26 at First Horizon Park. ⚾

- Local nonprofit Turnip Green Creative Reuse has diverted 1 million pounds of materials from local landfills. In celebration of the milestone, the reuse center located in Wedgewood-Houston (407 Houston St.) is fundraising $1 million to purchase a permanent space.

- Rev up those grills. The combined Wilson County Fair and Tennessee State Fair will host the Taste of Tennessee Big Beef Showdown on Aug. 14. Teams will battle it out in burger and steak competitions, which both serve as qualifiers for the World Food Championships. Register. 🍔

- Art of Craft — Centennial Art Center’s annual exhibit featuring artwork made by Middle Tennessee artists — will be on display Aug. 6-Sept. 20. The gallery, located on the grounds of Centennial Park, will host an opening reception from 5-7:30 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 6.
