Last week, the Greater Nashville Technology Council (NTC) + MTSU released their annual 2021 State of Middle Tennessee Tech report.
Each year, the two entities analyze industry data to track the trajectory and evolution of the region's tech workforce.

Since last year’s report, NTC has launched its TechIntoNashville initiative to encourage workers from the six leading US tech cities — San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C. — to relocate to Nashville as Amazon, Facebook, Oracle, and other industry giants set up shop in the region.
📋 Here are the biggest takeaways from the report:
- The number of tech jobs in Middle Tennessee grew by 51% from 2015-2020, outpacing national tech job growth by 32%, statewide tech job growth by 13%, and overall job growth in Middle Tennessee by 41%.
- The projected growth rate for tech jobs in Middle Tennessee (2020-2025) is 12%, compared to 8% projected national tech job growth, 10% projected statewide job growth, and 7% projected growth across all occupations in Middle Tennessee.
- In 2020, the median compensation for tech jobs in the region was $71,188. This is 76% above the median compensation for all jobs in the region + 17.7% below the national median for tech jobs.
- The average number of new monthly job postings across all tech occupations in the region last year was 14,462.
- The Computer Systems Design and Related Services industry employed the largest number of tech workers in the region with 7,820 employees + Software Developers and Quality Assurance had the highest demand with an average of 3,762 new unique monthly job postings.

- Nashville International Airport will resume nonstop flights to London via British Airways on Thurs., Dec. 9. The transatlantic flight originally launched on May 18, 2018 before ceasing operations for 632 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ✈️

- Golf courses managed by Metro Parks will operate on a reduced winter schedule through Mar. 8, 2022. Harpeth Hills, Ted Rhodes, and Shelby will be closed on Mondays + McCabe, Percy Warner, and Two Rivers will be closed on Tuesdays. ⛳
Number
- $405,000. That’s the average median home price in Nashville right now, up from $250,000 five years ago, according to a study by RE/MAX. 🏠 (Nashville Business Journal)
Arts
- Nashville SC has partnered with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville to open a call to artists for the new soccer stadium. Artists have the opportunity to create a mural for the East Concourse or have their work displayed in the Soundwaves Gallery. Learn more + submit your artwork. 🎨
Coronavirus
- Gov. Bill Lee announced that he would not extend Tennessee's COVID-19 state of emergency, which officially expired on Friday night. The state of emergency was first instituted on Mar. 12, 2020 + granted the state additional federal funding to combat COVID-19. (WKRN)

- Iroquois Steeplechase recently presented a $115,000 donation to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on behalf of the proceeds raised during the 2021 event. Additionally, the Friends of Warner Parks received a $20,000 donation.

- Monster Jam is returning to Bridgestone Arena on Jan. 29-30 as part of its 30th anniversary tour. The motorsports show features high-flying stunts + head-to-head battles as drivers maneuver 12,000-pound monster trucks around the arena. Tickets are now on sale.
