Hello Friday.
April 26 2024
As of 5 a.m. this morning, Metro Nashville's indoor mask mandate is no longer in effect + all COVID-19-related capacity restrictions have been lifted.
Local health officials decided late Thursday to let the mandate expire after evaluating the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated guidance that those fully-vaccinated can stop wearing masks + physically distancing.
So far, 36% of Nashvillians are fully vaccinated. Earlier this week, the Tennessee Department of Health announced the state will begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 12-15.
Although the mandate has been lifted, health officials recommend those who are unvaccinated wear masks when in crowds, indoors, and when unable to distance from others. Businesses will still be able to establish their own rules about wearing masks.
By the numbers
✅43% of Nashville residents have received at least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine + 36% are fully vaccinated.
✅37% of Tennesseans have received at least 1 dose + 30% are fully vaccinated.
✅Statewide, nearly 4.5 million total vaccinations have been reported.
