Happy snow day, Nashville. Thursday's winter weather covered the city in a blanket of snow up to seven inches in some areas.
Today, public safety officials are warning residents of “dangerously frigid” weather as temperatures start in the single digits and teens before reaching a high of 26° later this afternoon. Here’s what you need to know before the snow melts away:
🏛️ City services
- Some city departments will be closed or offering remote services today. See the full list.
- The Metro Public Health Department + Nashville's two COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites will remain closed on Friday.
- All Metro Parks regional and neighborhood community centers as well as Centennial Sportsplex will be closed.

❄️ Cold weather services
- The city’s extreme cold weather shelter will be open through at least tomorrow at 3230 Brick Church Pk.

For more safety information and weather updates, residents can sign up for the city’s Metro Emergency Alert and Notification System. The app, which launched in 2019, sends users location-specific notifications via email, phone, or text.
